Morning and Mountain Bike Rides
Hi MC folks --
I used to race a lot (road and mountain with Trek/VW factory team ) and I'm just getting back on my bike these days after a few years off and some ACL surgery. I think I might do a little racing next year. I moved here earlier this year, but because of the surgery have been a little lame (literally) about riding so far.
Would anyone be up for showing me the ropes on the trails over across the bridge? Just an easy ride? (Perhaps we could combine this with bikefest / 'cross spectating this weekend? I'll buy the beer! ) I would so appreciate it! I promise I'm good company.
Also I'd like to ride in the mornings once or twice a week and to that end:
1. I can't seem to sign up for the morning group ride list. Help?
2. Are those happening anymore with the time change? If not, does anyone want to put on a headlamp and some tail lights and keep riding?
3. I'd love to go ride the trails over across the bridge once a week -- morning or evening with some lights. Anyone interested? I live near Duboce Park and work near the Embarcadero.
I'm sure I'll see you all out on the roads sometime soon. sarah (feel free to email at the below email, too )

The vast majority of the Marin Headlands trails are pretty open fire roads with some single/double track, but nothing too challenging. Basically, you want to cross the bridge, take a left and climb up Conzelman Road. When you get to the junction of Conzelman/McCollough, the Coastal Trail trailhead is just to the left of McCollough road. It's single/doubletrack all the way down to Bunker Road. Cross Bunker Road and go to the footbridge at the back of the parking lot -- that's where all the other trails start. The main trails from there are Bobcat, Marincello and Miwok.
My usual is an out-and-back: up Bobcat, down Marincello to the stables, back up Marincello, down Bobcat. Or a loop that goes up Miwok, down the backside to the stables, up Marincello, down Bobcat:

More challenging MTB-specific stuff generally requires a bit of a drive. Good locations are Tamarancho (Fairfax), Skeggs Point (Woodside) and Demo Forest (Santa Cruz).
That's very helpful. Thanks!!
